place, and the patrol has not bothered him.

I'm not outspoken about being gay, but when things like this happen, I don't take it. Maybe this will help fellow gays in some way. If you have a complaint about the state patrol, send it to:

APATHY INJURES

A friend of mine was involved in an automobile accident on Saturday night, June 18, at about 12:30 a.m. She and a friend of hers were on their way to Traxx.

Driving a late model Datsun 280-Z, she was going through a green traffic light in front of the bar when the car was struck broadside by a blue Ford Pinto driven by a male teenager. The Pinto had run a stoplight. My friend, on her way to the bar, was sober. The other driver, with three male friends, was visibly stoned.

On the terrace and patio of Traxx, people were drinking, talking, and enjoying the mild summer evening. The police arrived at the scene. My friend went over to the people on the sidewalk in front of Traxx and asked if anyone had seen what had happened. All of the people denied seeing a thing! Everyone dispersed and went into the bar.

My friend is a lesbian. I'm a straight male. I respect her sexuality because I feel that it is a natural drive in some people. She has taught me a lot about gay people and their way of life.

I also read HIGH GEAR regularly because it is delivered where I work. Many of the articles concern "coming out of the closet" and standing up for the gay way of life. Fine. Great.

Apparently, the people who witnessed the accident in front of Traxx did not want to become involved because they would have to admit to being in a gay bar. Seems a little hypocritical. My friend did not run a stop

light. The driver of the blue Pinto did. He and his three young friends claim their light was green! Now, it is a typical case of the insurance company battle over who was right or wrong, unless one or more of the persons who witnessed the accident comes forward and testifies for my friend. She has $1600 damage to her car, faces having her insurance canceled, or paying very high premiums after this accident; and it wasn't her fault.

The people who witnessed the accident know who they are. What if it happened to you? Surely you would want the same help she needs.

If you witnessed the accident, please call and help. If you call, expect no reward, because there is none. Just self-pride. Call 2371667 between 9 and 12 p.m.

Thanks for the space, A Friend in Need
